Experiencing the "Winner Take All" Economy Up Close

I recently started doing some home renovations. I replaced my door, fixed my doorbell, replaced my gutters, and installed a Level-2 electric car charger. And I’m just getting started.
I’m not a stranger to fixing up parts of the house, and I’ve hired contractors before.
But I’ve never met a contractor with all of the following qualities:
  • Good handiwork
  • Very reasonable prices
  • Versatile enough to do all types of jobs
  • Is multi-licensed!
For all my job requests, he outbid all the competition by at least 2-fold and still didn’t regress with quality of work. So I ended up giving him all the work.
I feel like I’ve struck gold. I feel like I’ve won the lottery.
Good people are exceedingly rare.
If you’re ever lucky enough to encounter them, hold on to them for dear life.
On the flip side, if you’re providing a service, continue to provide the best possible quality, and you’ll have a customer for life!
I’ve only started my journey of home renovations. There will be plenty more for me to do, and I will most certainly be giving that contractor all the jobs, provided that he continues to exhibit those qualities.
This contractor is so good that I’m willing to give him all my remaining jobs. Winner-take-all!
Quality In A World Of Increased Competition
Thanks to online platforms like HomeAdvisor and Fiverr, it is so much easier to find people to do job requests. The competition is incredibly fierce, but the good quality will still be recognized.
Even more so, good quality will be disproportionately rewarded due to internet exposure.
Customers will always demand the best, so providers must always strive to give their best. They will be rewarded for doing so, and both parties end up happy.
